A Hartal Day
A hartal day is a day of shut-down of work in protest throughout a wide area or even throughout the whole country. Generally political parties or labour organizations or many other scio-cultural organizations call hartal on a particular day to press their demands to the ruling government. When dissatisfaction grows among the opposition, hartals observed to compel the authority to fulfill their demands. During a hartal day the normal activities of schools, colleges, offices, courts, markets, mills and factories often remain closed. The movements of vehicles on roads are obstructed. On a hartal day the picketers as well the workers of the political party remain very active. They bring out processions and different exciting slogans. The police forces are deployed on important points to maintain law and order. Despite that the picketers sometimes create panic to make their programme successful. Series damage of properties and loss of life occur many times. Though hartal sometimes solves problems, it is very harmful for a country. So it should be controlled and banned.
